Most
of the time we members take the condition of our Golf Course for
granted. Yes we appreciate it and we marvel at it and we are proud
of it but do we really know how it gets that way? Most of us have
no idea how much work goes into all the programs required to maintain
this course to such excellent condition as it is now. The Golf Course
Management Industry knows it and has recognized Candlewood Country
Club as “one of the best conditioned courses in Southern California”.
Furthermore, the industry also recognizes our course superintendent,
Mike Caranci, as one of the best superintendents in Southern California.
I have been working closely with Mike over the last five years and
have seen first hand how much work he does to institute and manage
all the preventive, feeding and controlling programs required to
maintain our course to “our” satisfaction. Its evident Mike performs
to please us, the members. Mike is the reason our greens, fairways
and rough was in superb shape this last summer, arguably the most
difficult time to maintain a golf course.
A
number of players from other clubs from all over Southern California
had the opportunity to play Candlewood this past summer and all
raved its condition. Most were members from “high end” clubs like
Hacienda, Glendora, Wilshire and Riviera. So when you see Mike or
his staff please thank them for their hard work.
Please
read the following article running now in California Fairways
. It points out some of the ways Mike and his staff has
worked to get our course in excellent condition.
Thank
you Mike!
